Oregon, After The Storm is a photographic exploration of devastation in the natural landscape, created in and around my mother’s hometown of Gearhart, Oregon in the aftermath of a breakup. Somehow, the world falls in sync with my internal state of devastation. Hills are wiped and clear cut, trees and logs are strewn, uprooted, piled up. I am small in the frame and small in relation to the world. This landscape birthed and raised my mother’s side of the family; I am forever connected while also remaining an outsider, a visitor. It is an escape and it is a coming home. It is a state of limbo, frozen, archived, made significant by the act of photographing.
